Create a Matter within a Portfolio

  1. Click on Portfolios in the left-hand Navigation Menu

  2. Open the Portfolio

  3. Click on the "Matters" tab within the Portfolio Overview

  4. Click on "+ Create Matter" in the top right corner

  5. Select from the two options:

    1. Create from Matter Type; or

    2. Create from Playbook

  6. Review the index and select the relevant type or playbook.

  7. Next, you will be asked to input key details:

    1. Matter Name

    2. Matter ID - you should consider adopting a naming/numbering protocol to make it easy to find and report on Matter status.

    3. Matter Description - a good description will help participants understand the objective of the matter and reduce ad-hoc questions.

    4. Jurisdiction(s) - only those jurisdictions which are selected at the Portfolio level are available at the Matter level. This is to ensure good data quality and control over the work being conducted.

    5. Client

    6. Practice Areas

    7. Fill in any Additional Information (if required)

  8. You can now invite Participants to the Matter and select their permissions.

    1. You can search for Users by name

    2. When you invite a User they receive a notification immediately.

    3. If a User is not a Participant on the Portfolio and you add them to a Matter they will not automatically have access to the Portfolio.

  9. Click "Next" to review the Matter setup and make any necessary edits.

  10. When you’re all done click "Finish".

Create a standalone Matter

  1. Click on Matters in the left-hand Navigation Menu

  2. Select "+ Create Matter" in the top right-hand corner of the Matter Index

  3. Select from the two options:

    1. Create from Matter Type; or

    2. Create from Playbook

  4. Review the index and select the relevant type or playbook.

  5. Next, you will be asked to input key details:

    1. Matter Name

    2. Matter ID

    3. Matter Description

    4. Jurisdiction(s)

    5. Client

    6. Practice Areas

    7. Fill in any Additional Information (if required)

  6. You can now invite Participants to the Matter and select their permissions.

    1. You can search for Users by name

Note: You can also create a standalone Matter from the Dashboard by selecting “+Create” in the top right of the screen and following the same instructions above.
