The Drive is the document management heart of Fibonacci, designed for easy collaboration with your internal teams and external users on legal work products.
We've heard your feedback on Drive navigation, especially when dealing with projects that have a large number of matters, folders, and files. We're thrilled to introduce a completely refreshed user experience just for you.
1. Navigation
We’ve centralised all your navigation needs into a single easy-to-use panel on the left of the Drive. The panel automatically sizes to the content and can be collapsed to make more room for the index.
Quick Search Links
We understand that quick access to relevant information is crucial, so we’ve added links in the panel for the following:
a. Important: Files tagged as “key”.
b. Assigned to me: Files with comments assigned to you (these also appear in your personal dashboard under the “Documents for Review” widget).
c. Shared with me
Files shared with you that you don’t have permission to view in their location (so they won’t appear in the folder tree).
These quick search links are dynamic, and updating automatically. We’ve chosen the most relevant columns in each quick search to help you understand more about the files and folders. To change views, just click on another link.
Note: If you don’t see a link, it means there are no files or folders in the category. We keep empty links hidden to help you stay focused on your work.
Folder Tree
We’ve introduced an expandable folder tree structure, which will allow you to navigate easily between the Portfolio and Matters that you have access to, and any folders contained within them. By default you will start in the Portfolio or Matter you are accessing the Drive from.
You can expand any folder to reveal its subfolders within the navigation panel, helping you understand where you are at all times.
Note: If you don’t see a Portfolio or Matter in the folder tree, it means you don’t have permission to access them. However, documents from those folders can still be shared with you and will appear under the “Shared with Me” link (see above).
2. Updated Index
The current index takes up a lot of vertical space, leading to more scrolling on larger projects. File metadata like tags, comments, and last updated information are only accessible through the information menu, which means more clicks to get what you need.
To address this feedback we’ve overhauled the Drive Index.
Compact, data-rich view
Less scrolling and clicking! We’ve reduced the size of objects in the Drive index and added useful metadata, including coloured file icons, last modified details (user/date), location, and file size. You’ll also notice we’ve given you more room for file names, making it easier to distinguish between them.
On the far right of the screen, you’ll find new hover icons like tags and linked documents, allowing you to access information without opening the file or the information panel. This update aligns the Drive with our refreshed Blueprint design system.
Bulk actions
You can now select multiple files and folders to perform important actions like moving, tagging, downloading, and deleting, making it easier to manage large amounts of files or folders.
Expanded menu options
We’ve moved all file and folder actions into an expanded menu accessible directly from the index. This includes new tagging and copy link functionality to help you better organise and share your work.
Context-specific views
As you navigate between the main index, quick searches, and advanced search, the columns will automatically adjust to display the most relevant information, ensuring you always have the details you need at a glance.
3. Advanced Search
The current search functionality in the Drive is limited to keyword searches, with results that can be refined using a limited set of filters. We know how important it is for you to find information quickly, especially on larger projects, so we’re introducing a new “Advanced Search” experience.
Metadata filtering while you search
You can now include a variety of new filters in your search queries, such as file type, tag(s), assignment, date last updated, and more, to help narrow the information you receive. Multiple filters can be “stacked” together for advanced querying when managing large sets of files.
Location-specific search
You can now choose where you search with the Fibonacci Drive. Choose between searching everywhere or just within the current location which may be the current Portfolio, Matter or any of the quick search indexes.
With Fibonacci Drive, you can now choose where to search. Choose between searching everywhere or just within the current location, whether it’s the current Portfolio, Matter, or any of the quick search indexes.
4. File/Folder Information Panel
Information about your files and folders is currently divided between the index and an information overlay. To align with our refreshed features like the Blueprint, we’re introducing a new, consistent look for the information panels associated with files and folders.
Consistent, data-rich panels
All the details you need about your files and folders are now presented in a single, scrollable information panel. This includes descriptions, uploaded and last modified information, tags, iManage status (for imported files - when enabled by your organisation), and permissions.
As we continue to innovate within the Drive, this new panel design will provide plenty of space for file workflows and other file actions.
Permissions views
Easily switch your view of a file or folders permissions between role (Owner, Collaborator, and Viewer), organisation, and team, giving you a clearer understanding of who has access to what.
iManage sync actions
You can now access detailed iManage information directly from the information panel, including iManage ID, Workspace (link), and the last synced actions. It's easier to sync your files directly with the click of a button.
5. Uploading
Uploading files into the Drive has been a multi-step process, requiring several decisions that impact the visibility of teh. We’ve listened to your feedback and have streamlined the process to reduce the number of clicks needed to upload files into Fibonacci, along with introducing some new upload functionalities.
Faster uploading
Now, you can simply drag and drop files onto the Drive index to start an upload. All upload actions are managed from a single screen with default settings that allow for one-click uploads. Visual warnings will alert you to any failed uploads, and you can still adjust permissions and tags—all within the same screen.
Uploading folders
You can now upload an entire folder (including their contents) directly to Fibonacci, making it easier to set up your folder structure in one go.
Note: Folders must contain at least one file to be uploaded. If you want to upload a folder structure, ensure there’s at least one file in the furthest subfolder to guarantee the full structure uploads.
Default permissions
New files and folders will automatically inherit their location permissions to speed up uploading and help ensure there are no information silos. You can still modify permissions for files and folders, except at the Portfolio or Matter level, where permissions must be inherited.
Note: Files and Folders must always have at least one explicit owner. You won’t be able to remove an explicit owner unless there are at least two (2).
Enjoy the new Drive experience!
