What are Tags in Fibonacci?

A tag is a label that can be applied to Fibonacci objects such as workstreams, deliverables, tasks, documents or events. Tags are set up in groups to help with easy creation and management (e.g. tag group = “Legal Entities”; tags = “Company A Ltd”, “Company B Ltd”). Users can select one or more tags from the same tag group based on the way it has been setup; either single or multi-select.

Tags help you:

  1. Classify data so that it is particular to the work you’re doing.

  2. Indicate relationships between objects.

  3. Search and filter information quickly.

You can apply tags in the “Tags” field. The same tag can be used for an event, workstream, document, and task (and other objects). By using the same tag you can organise your data consistently.

Creating tags

Tag groups and tags are created and managed by Portfolio or Matter Owner:

  1. Go to the Portfolio settings by clicking "Manage Portfolio" at the top right of your screen.

  2. Navigate to the "Tags" section.

  3. Click "Create tag" at the top right of the tags index.

  4. Name the tag group and choose whether users can single or multi-select the values.

  5. Add values for the tag group.

  6. Click "Create".

Archiving or Deleting Tags

Within the Tags index, Portfolio or Matter owners can archive or delete tag groups or individual tags. There’s an important difference between these two actions:

  1. Archive - The tag group or tag value will no longer be visible by users when adding tags to an object. Existing objects using that tag or tag value will still display it.

  2. Delete - The tag group or value will no longer be visible by users when adding tags to an object. The tag group or tag value will be deleted from any objects using it.

Applying tags to objects

All users are able to add tags to objects where the tag field is present, like:

  • Workstreams, Deliverables, Tasks (Blueprint)

  • Events (Timeline)

  • Documents (Drive)

To add a tag to an object

  1. Open the right-hand panel.

  2. Navigate to the "Tags" field and click on it.

  3. Select the tag(s) you want to add to the object.

  4. You can also use the search bar in the tag field to easily find the tag(s) you're looking for.

  5. On the blueprint, you can bulk add tags to tasks. Select the tasks, click on the tag icon in the bulk actions header (purple), and follow the prompts.

Filtering using Tags

Tags are great for filtering large sets of information quickly. You can use tags to filter the Blueprint, Timeline and Drive:

  1. Click on the filter icon at the top right of the feature index (e.g. Blueprint)

  2. Select "Tags".

  3. Select one or more tag values. The filter works as an "OR" so any object that has any of the tag values you have selected will be returned in the results.
