Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security system that requires more than one form of authentication to verify your identity when you attempt to access Fibonacci. The most common MFA setup is something you know (like a password) and then something you have (such as a smartphone application or SMS to your mobile phone).

Why is MFA important?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is important because it adds an additional layer of security to user accounts and systems. Usernames and passwords are vulnerable to attacks and can be stolen by third parties. Enforcing the use of MFA results in increased confidence that your organisation will be safe from cybercriminals. That’s why many organisations now have an information security policy which requires all logins to use MFA.

How does MFA work?

MFA works by requiring additional verification. One of the most common MFA that users encounter is a one-time passcode (OTP). OTPs are 4-8 digit codes that you often receive via email, SMS or mobile application. A new OTP is generated frequently (e.g. every 30 seconds) or each time an authentication request is submitted.

You can use an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator (recommended) or SMS. We will guide you through the setup of your chosen MFA method.

Resetting your MFA

What happens if you lose access to your authenticator app or your work mobile device, and you don’t know your recovery code? No problem, drop us an email at help@fibonacci.legal and we will help you reset your MFA.
